Twenty Years Of History: Pearl Jam Releases ‘Live On Ten Legs’ Deluxe Vinyl Edition For Sale In Stores
Collecting tracks from their 2003-2010 world tours, Pearl Jam released their most recent album, ‘Live on Ten Legs’ back in January. The release of the album marks the twentieth anniversary of the band and it will be followed by re-releases of ‘Vs.’ and ‘Vitalogy’, the group’s second and third albums consecutively in, accessable on commemorative vinyl records on April 12th. This year will also mark the release of Cameron Crowe’s documentary, ‘Pearl Jam Twenty’ accompanied by a 250 page book commemorating the group’s past this fall. Affirming that even after two decades, Pearl Jam continues thriving, there is also a 20th anniversary weekend bash in mind for this summer.
Originally from Seattle, Washington, Pearl Jam released their debut record, ‘Ten’ back in 1991 and though they didn’t mark immediate acclaim, the album topped at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in 1992 with three hit singles in ‘Alive’, ‘Even Flow’, and ‘Jeremy’. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the group "spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame," holding a leading role in the grunge movement of the early 1990s and was criticized for refusing to comply with industry standards. ‘Ten’ is still the ensamble’s most successful album, having sold nearly ten million copies and was paramount in generalizing alternative rock.
Frontman, Eddie Vedder has been known to be very outspoken and Pearl Jam is no stranger to controversy, bluntly protesting former President George W. Bush, BP, and even Ticketmaster. Concerning a number a number of causes Pearl Jam has also been active as well, including awareness of Crohn’s Disease (which Mike McCready, the band’s lead guitarist suffers from), the pro-choice movement, and enforces a carbon neutral policy; a movement to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
For their twentieth anniversary, Brett Eliason, the ensamble’s longtime engineer, has taken 18 tracks from their collective world tours between 2003-2010 and remixed or remastered them for ‘Live on Ten Legs’ the follow-up to their platinum 1998 live North American tour release, ‘Live on Two Legs’. The record features classics like ‘Alive’ and ‘Yellow Ledbetter’ and later hits like ‘The Fixer’. The deluxe double rock vinyl includes a CD, four mini-poster reprints from classic performances, five live photo prints and a tour laminate.
returning to the studio this April to start recording their next album, Pearl Jam is still ‘Alive’ and well after two decades. The group’s bassist, Jeff Ament, told Billboard, “We did a whole bunch of demos and everybody’s got a disc of 25 (tracks) right now. April will be the time where we get together and learn to play all these demos and figure out which 12-15 of them float to the top. Hopefully we can get something done this year. There’s been so much focus on the past that I think all of us are really excited to make a new record and have something to look forward to because we’ve been digging in the boxes in our basement a lot the last year or so.”

In the
vide, which was directed by filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, Weezy begins alone in a
studio, shirtless with his long locks flowing. The camera zooms in, focusing
in on the Martian's key ink, like the "Fear God" tattoo on his eyelids and the
"Baby" tat on his right arm, which pays homage to Cash Money's CEO and Wayne's
father figure, Birdman. The somber track, produced by REO of the Soundkillers
opens with operatic wails and a shimmering hi-hat before Wayne starts rapping:
"With everything happening today, you don't really know if you're coming or
goin'/ But you think that you're on your way, life lined up on the mirror
don't blow it." It all builds rather slowly. As ...
