The first important criterion when buying a camera is the quality of the lens. The lens for the Olympus XZ-1 is a very efficient and fast lens called the iZuiko. If you find yourself in a situation where the lighting is not very bright, the speed and brightness of this iZukio lens will come to your rescue and give you great low-luminance photos. You will be able to produce sharp, clear images every time with virtually no distortion or graininess. The ultra slim 25.5 mm depth of this camera will appeal to people who like the slender, compact look that is so popular with smart phones of today and other portable devices. Even though the XZ-1 has a slender design looks good with the features it has to offer, you may want consider the price before buying it. While the XZ-1 presents you with everything necessary to take premium photos, there are some accessories in particular that you might wish to have, depending on the way you plan to operate your camera. This camera comes equipped with an accessory port that lets you hook peripherals up to it. Hooking up an electronic viewfinder or a microphone adapter are examples of things you can do.

There are also more unusual accessories you might want to consider. If you enjoy filming things while you are in the water, then you might want to think about purchasing an underwater case designed especially for the XZ-1, which will make it totally waterproof. The XZ-1 can actually capture decent photos under the water because it has the Underwater White Balance. However, you'll need the Underwater Case in order to make use of this feature.

In conclusion, the Olympus XZ-1 has many features to recommend it, whether you're a beginner, an advanced photographer, or somewhere in between. Although there are cheaper cameras that do far less, the XZ-1 is designed to be the ideal complement for any situation. How do modern dSLR cameras synchronise their flash up to 1/500 second?

With focal plane shutters on SLR cameras it used to be that the whole of the frame had to be uncovered at one time when using electronic flash. From my research before purchasing a new camera I see that the Nikon D50 will synchronise at up to 1/500 and Olympus suggest their SLRs synchronise at all speeds. Can anyone tell me how this is achieved.
I cannot choose just one that is the best answer as I think the latter two both shed as much light on the situation

Actually, dSLRs still do have mechanical shutters. At high shutter speeds and for flash sync however, the mechanical shutter closes AFTER the sensor is turned off electronically.

Olympus OM-D E-M5 shots orchestrally maneuvers out of the darkness (Engadget)

Would you look at that? According to _PhotoRumors,_ that chunk of retro beauty
is purportedly a full-on snap of Olympus' new OM-D Micro Four Thirds shooter
(from an Amazon Japan listing that's since been pulled) affixed with its
optional battery grip (adding what appears to be a secondary shutter button).
That, or someone knows exactly what makes us go "Oooh." The chunky '70s
stylings make us fear we'd abandon our career to go become a war photographer
if one of those was placed in our hands. _43Rumors_ believes the unit will
hold a 16.1 megapixel EDR CMOS, beefier than the 12.3 sensor inside the PEN
E-PL3, but we hope this new body (however beautiful it is) doesn't spell the
end for the dinky PEN series. If that wasn't enough, a that Amazon listing we
mentioned also pointed out a 1.44-megapixel electronic viewfinder, a tiltable
OLED display on back and a total weight of 454 grams with its kit lens
attached. We've got a few more shots in the gallery below, with others rocking
some serious cropping, but each is more deliciously teasing than the last.
