Raul Ruiz is really a filmmaker of labyrinths. A marvelously elastic storyteller, a dry sense of humor, and a Rivettean anti-determinist, the Chilean auteur is interested in narratives that dilate from within, images seemingly full of secret passageways, and fabulists which collect reports like playthings. For the reason that sense, the ideal Ruiz task is his often sublime 1999 visualization of time Regained, exactly where Proust? s themes involving slippery storage weren? t so much adapted for the screen since used as the flame which kept the director? s own magic-lantern display reshaping itself repeatedly. Similarly adapted from a literary sprawler, Mysteries involving Lisbon only occasionally hits the sooner film? s levels of boldness, yet it nevertheless finds Ruiz in plangent variety, offering a sumptuous and fluid work that, in its most useful, gives the elating feeling of flipping via a book because the pages evaporate into smoke.
The idea? s maybe not Proust yet Dickens that? h evoked inside Portuguese creator Camilo Castelo Branco? t portrait associated with 19th-century excellent expectations, and Ruiz opens on a fitting note of childlike obsession. The narrator, Pedro weil Silva, recalls his roots as a 14-year-old (performed by Jo? to Arrais) stuck in a Lisbon boarding university, dealing with bullies and with having nor family or name. That? s the actual? diary of suffering? described in the opening game titles, but then it morphs into a fairy tale: Angela (Karen Jo? to Bastos), the particular boy? s mother, finally comes to him as a doleful splendor trapped in a castle by way of a sadistic ogre of a nobleman (Albano Jeronimo). Reunited with her, youthful Pedro amazing things about his or her father. Move narrator: Today Father Diniz (Adriano Luz), the orphanage? t kind overseer, recounts a saga involving aristocratic cruelty and doomed lovers when the padre cameos under an entirely different identity. Meanwhile, the particular boy creates his or her own narrative upwards in his or her room, transferring cutout figures in this way and that in his puppet theater.
Characters and subplots increase, grow, braiding and blurring them selves. The thug (Ricardo Pereira) hired to kill Angela? h lover later arises as a moneyed Brazilian rake who specializes in making high-society divas virtually swoon in drawing-room surfaces, and the duel that follows as a result is created up and then be everything needed triggered quietly of the road. Any? frivolous online game? becomes a? sordid episode,? someone says, or even it? s one other way about. Though a lot more earthbound compared to Proust? h, Castelo Branco? h structure is usually liquid enough to permit Ruiz to skip among generations since characters wear different guises and flashbacks develop within flashbacks. The narrative shifts focus? occasionally the film is all about Pedro (enjoyed by Jos? Afonso Pimentel being an), at the others it? h about Padre Diniz or maybe the Gallic heiress Elisa (Clotilde Hesme)? nevertheless the director? h camera, continually prowling via burnished tableaux, continues to be attuned to the subtle and epic emotions of each fable.

Operatic and droll, Mysteries of Lisbon would wear its time period compositions and magisterial size (four-and-a-half hours, edited from a six-hour miniseries) lightly. Ruiz has often staged his or her films as pleasurably disorienting games, and here he creates stodgily good looking, candlelit frames that are shaken by the characters? subjective tremors: When the teenage protagonist tosses about feverishly and his bed seems to float across the chamber, the sequence indicates a dark-toned necessary oil painting warped through heat and anguish. Manoel de Oliveira, who did his own episodic edition of Castelo Branco together with 1979? h Ill-Fated Enjoy, would have shot these types of arias as a serene procession regarding memories and apparitions designed to evoke an ever vanishing medium. Just as thinking about cinema? t longevity and mortality, Ruiz weaves the less rarefied perspective of passion and melancholy intersecting. They could flow from Lisbon, but the film? t mysteries, human along with cinematic, tend to be universal.

How many/much photos, film and video was shot during the Apollo program?
In the course of the 11 manned missions of the Apollo program (7-11), how many photos were taken in flight or on the moon? How much video was recorded (in minutes/hours)? And how much motion picture film (the 16mm DAC camera) was shot? I can't find these numbers anywhere. Much thanks!
Lots. NASA its may not know the total either. But here's everything that the Apollo lunar lander missions did -

For the movies at least, you would need to know the frame rate (some footage was shot under cranked or stop motion). Some photos may of been lost (film cartridge dropped on the moon and left behind). Also there were reconnaissance photos taken by some of the Apollo lunar capsules as they orbited around the moon.
So lots, thousands, if you fold in the movie and video frames.
