What is the best way to mount speedlights and umbrellas? on a light stand.?
Do you use a special bracket or speedring?
In my experience, with a simple bracket i am using my light stand seems unbalanced and can easily topple over. What do you use?

I use an umbrella hotshoe adapter - allows for the light to be positioned at any angle (umbrella & flash pivot together).

there IS a right way to mount them on a light stand! Make sure its not upside down! Have a look at video about half way down the Strobist Lighting 101 page - it mentions how they're attached;

if the umbrella is large or its windy, then I sandbag or otherwise stabilise the light stand legs (or preferably have an assistant hold it!)
