I would recommend one precaution, ESPECIALLY with this type of bulb: Do not touch the glass part of the bulb with your fingers (only touch the ceramic base). Oils from your skin can make a halogen lamp shatter when it heats up. Unfortunately, on this type of lamp, it is nearly impossible not to touch the glass bulb unless you hold it with a paper towel, or the plastic bag the lamp comes in, to push the new lamp in. If you do touch the glass bulb you should clean it with alcohol and let it dry before powering it up.
