Color And Monochrome: Dos And Don'ts Of Using It For Glamour Images
There comes a time when every beauty artist faces a real dilemma. Easy it sounds, simple it looks, but making a certain decision is as difficult as producing a perfect photo from the very first shot. This question is "Color or black and white?"
It was simple back when photography only existed in grayscale - nobody would be concerned about the issues of colors, shades and how they match. Photographers successfully depicted astounding beauty pictures without a full palette a human eye can perceive.
With colors becoming another vital factor of a picture's aesthetic quality, beauty photography altered dramatically. Nowadays, when digital photography enabled photographers to reproduce millions of shades, the "bright" approach seems even more preferable.
As to your own decision on this curious problem, it should be based upon studying pros and cons of both color and monochrome. Just as almost any dilemma in Glamorous Photography, this one is mostly about the artist's purpose, not some firmly-established rules or canons.
For a start, remember, there is no aspect in which black and white beauty photography can be less difficult than the colorful one, or vice versa. You cannot possibly make your artistic simpler by choosing what appears to be less demanding - forget it.
Light is crucial in both color and old school black and white photography. Without the proper lighting the mood will be spoiled and the photograph would be flat. No exceptions. Regardless of your preferences, both color and black and white cannot do without proper lighting, that's why it is so important to always hold this in mind.
What is really different though, is the impression those two different photographic dimensions make upon the viewer. There are several issues you might consider on this matter:
- Colors are excellent for placing accents you want your viewers to concentrate on. Colorful photo attracts immediate attention; composition is easy to arrange based on the colors of its key elements; different shades create different mood and contribute to the impact a photo can have.
- Black and white puts more stock in texture and forms rather than different tones and shades. It also makes the game of light and shadow more visible, and therefore more comprehensive. If you aim for a touch of subtlety and exquisiteness while wishing to retain and even enhance the artistic impact, monochrome is a precious technique. Besides, it helps to conceal unnatural colors and shades, so if your model ended up somewhat yellowish on the photo, you can always turn to gray-scale.
- Of course, your photo doesn't have to be strictly black and white to make an impression of a well-performed artistic work. Some glamour artists find sepia a very suitable way to traduce their artistic manner to the viewer. There are many other techniques to try out infrared, hi-key, duotone and others. There are many tutorials on the Web, so nothing really limits your creativity.
- Color can be effectively combined with black and white, though this is considered somewhat cliche, but who cares? As long as it works, you can turn to even the most banal approaches, if you can produce something original and unique, it doesn't matter. Colorful spots on black and white background can attract viewer's attention and create certain mood; monochromatic spots on otherwise a colorful photo can serve the same purpose of drawing attention and creating atmosphere.
As in most cases, no way is really preferable or less challenging, both color and black and white glamour photography have their fans who never cease to discuss the advantages and downsides. In fact, you don't need to choose, if something serves your purpose best of all, corresponds to the mood of your photo and delivers your message efficiently, you should have no doubts about what you do. It isn't methods and schools that create masterpieces, it's people, their vision and their talents.
How do I get rid of the black background on facebook?
The whole entire background is black and my wall is black so I can't see anybody's status without highlighting it, it's extremely aggravating!
Most Probably you have installed an extension/ Add-On what ever you say doesn't matter...
for checking and disabling add ons you need to go through this links
Chrome: chrome://settings/extensionSettings
Firefox : Click on firefox (top left) > Add-Ons..
If you don't have any idea about this then disable all add-Ons..
this should solve your problem..
then you can enable one by one and know which extension was the unwanted one.. you can remove that or just change settings of the extension
(i think its a theme extension you have installed by mistake..)
FBI: Holiday gun sales at record levels (KSAT)
December holiday shoppers were not just interested in buying the hottest
electronics and toys -- they also were purchasing record numbers of guns,
according to the latest FBI figures on background checks required to buy
firearms. With a few days left in December, the FBI reports the number of
background checks has already topped the previous one-month record -- set only
in November -- of 1,534,414 inquiries by gun dealers to the National Instant
Criminal Background Check System also known as NICS. Almost half a million
checks were done in just the last six days before Christmas. Two days before
Christmas, NICS ran 102,222 background checks, which was the second-busiest
day in history. The one-day record was set this year on Black Friday, the big
shopping day following Thanksgiving, with 129,166 searches. By comparison, the
previous one-day high was set November 28, 2008, when gun dealers made
slightly less than 98,000 requests for background searches. It's not possible
to tell exactly how many guns have been purchased because buyers often take
home more than one gun. But most people pass the background checks. Only 1.3%
of the searches result in people being denied permission to ...
